Future Library with Elif Shafak

This is the film we made about the 2018 handover ceremony for the Future Library. Elif Shafak travels to the Future Library forest to hand over her manuscript, and reveal its title.

'Future Library' is an artwork by Katie Paterson. A thousand trees have been planted in Nordmarka, a forest just outside Oslo, which will supply paper for a special anthology of books to be printed in one hundred years time. Between now and then, one writer every year will contribute a text, with the writings held in trust, unpublished, until 2114. Margaret Atwood was the first author, David Mitchell followed, then Sjón, and Elif Shafak in 2018. A handover ceremony will be held in the Norwegian forest every Spring for the next 99 years.
