National Gallery: [Re]curated: David Hockney – The Artist’s Eye

Thrilled to share the second episode of [Re]curated, a new series of virtual exhibition recreations and films made with the National Gallery, exploring how digital tools can help us unveil exhibitions from the past, for both research and enjoyment.

It's been such a joy to work with the interviewees, researchers and wonderful National Gallery team on this #arthistory film.

In this film we travel back in time to 1981 and experience a digital recreation of David Hockney's National Gallery exhibition ‘The Artist’s Eye’.

We interviewed experts Daniel Herrmann, Curator for Modern and Contemporary Projects and Lead Curator and Susanna Avery-Quash telling the story behind the exhibition and its paintings.

Celebrating Hockney's lifelong relationship with the Gallery, the film brings the story up to date, in this Bicentenary year of the National Gallery. The launch of this film coincides with the 2024 exhbition Hockney and Piero: A Longer Look.
